First launch AI model to select group Musk's xAI set to

On November 3, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence startup, xAI, made an announcement that it would release its maiden AI model to a select group on the following Saturday. This development comes almost a year after OpenAI's ChatGPT captivated businesses and users worldwide, leading to a significant increase in the adoption of generative AI technology.

Elon Musk, who co-founded OpenAI in 2015 but stepped down from the company's board in 2018, expressed his enthusiasm for xAI's new model, stating, "In some important respects, it (xAI's new model) is the best that currently exists." He shared this information on his social media platform, X.

Musk also revealed that once xAI's Grok system exits its early beta stage, it will become accessible to all X Premium+ subscribers. X, previously known as Twitter, introduced two new subscription plans recently, including a $16 per month Premium+ tier for users desiring an ad-free experience, and a basic tier priced at $3 per month.

Elon Musk has been critical of the AI efforts of Big Tech and what he perceives as censorship. He announced earlier this year his intent to launch a maximum truth-seeking AI, aimed at understanding the nature of the universe, in competition with Google's Bard and Microsoft's Bing AI.

The team behind xAI, which was launched in July, comprises individuals with backgrounds from Google's DeepMind, Microsoft, and other leading AI research firms. Although X and xAI operate as separate entities, they maintain close collaboration. xAI is also involved in collaborations with companies like Tesla.

Furthermore, Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle and a self-proclaimed close friend of Musk, disclosed in September that xAI had entered into a contract to train its AI model using Oracle's cloud infrastructure.
